On the heels of the San Francisco Ferry Building’s 125th anniversary in 2023…

2024 marked the 175th anniversary of Emperor Norton’s arrival in the City.

This historical convergence affords a wonderful opportunity for San Francisco to honor two of its most beloved symbols — the 245-foot-tall Ferry Building clock tower, which withstood the ravages of April 1906; and Emperor Norton, a patron saint and folk hero of the city — with a simple, elegant gesture:

Name the clock tower The Emperor Norton Tower.
