For some time now, we've been using the phrase "campaign within the Campaign" for our project seeking legislation to name the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge for Emperor Norton — or, more correctly, simply to add a name like "Emperor Norton Bridge" — by 2022, the 150th anniversary of the Emperor's proclamations setting out the original vision for the bridge in 1872.
This phrase reflects the fact that The Emperor's Bridge Campaign* has built out a cultural and historical mission that has us working on a number of fronts — research, education, advocacy — that are not strictly related to the bridge-naming effort.
But, as we've diversified our grand "Emperor endeavor" and developed our Web site to tell the larger story of these efforts, the section of the Campaign's site detailing our bridge-naming project has gotten a little harder to find.
To put the bridge-naming project back at the top of our digital stack...
We've spiffed up this part of the site; lifted it out of the Projects menu; and given the project its own new navigational tab — "Name the Bay Bridge for Emperor Norton" — that now appears on the lefthand side of the site.
This tab has a clickable drop-down menu that includes links to the following pages:
Intro
Bridge Proclamations
Historical Efforts
The Petition & the Campaign
Current Plan
Whys & Hows of Naming

WE ALSO have given this section of our site its own dedicated URL, to make it easy to remember and share. The URL...
www.EmperorNortonBridge.org
...auto-forwards to the new cover page shown above.
This cover page includes two buttons along the bottom of the page:
SIGN THE PETITION directs to the Change.org petition to name the Bay Bridge for Emperor Norton.
LEARN MORE directs to the "Intro" page in the drop-down menu described above.

WHEN you're sharing the Campaign's project to Name It the Emperor Norton Bridge, please use
www.EmperorNortonBridge.org
Here's the technical reason why.
The new cover page itself "lives" on our EmperorsBridge.org site.
This means that, when when you drop EmperorNortonBridge.org into a browser and click return, it will open up with a longer EmperorsBridge.org address.
We want folks to remember the new, shorter address.
And we want them to remember "Emperor Norton Bridge."
Cheers!
* In December 2019, The Emperor's Bridge Campaign adopted a new name: The Emperor Norton Trust.
